Saddle Fitting with Schleese

Saturday September 8, 2012 Luanne Reaume, certified fitter and dealer with Schleese Saddles, visited E&S to fit saddles for several clients.

Prior to Luanne visiting padding and risers were being used to solve fitting and movement issues. Luanne showed the clients how sometimes these "fixes" can actually do the opposite. Her tree adjustments, wool infusing and air pumping, as well as block adjustments all led to incredible movement freedom in the sessions with the horses since Saturday.

When clients ask what brands they should look for a their next saddle, Monet only recommends Schleese saddles. Monet has ridden solely in Schleese for years, and has a personal friendship with founder and master saddle-maker Jochen Schleese. "Their saddles are built for women's hips and designed to allow the horse to move freely and in communication with the rider."

Below are some photos from the session.

New Clients!!

Business has been growing and we have taken in several new riding students and working students. We have also welcomed a new boarding and training client Ada and her Selle Francais gelding Diole!
Both are settling in well and have jumped right in with our family.
Below are some shots of Monet training Diole while Ada observes and discuss.
Ada will be taking lessons on Diole in between Monet working on him.
He's a real character and Ada is a sweet 'horsey mom.'

Testimony

It's been a while since we posted!
Monet and everyone out at E&S are very busy with the new place!
But one of our students wrote a lovely piece that we felt needed posting as a guest blogger!
Please enjoy this testimonial by Karen McWhorter:

  To Dance With a Horse
Think you know how to ride a horse?  Well so did I, and in truth I do know how to ride a horse in the way that most people ride.  I started out with lessons in Western, and then in English, with jumping.  Then when I finally grew up I was able to get a horse of my own.  Currently my husband and I have 2 horses of which I have done most of the training of.  But when I saw an ad about a new stable that taught Dressage and something called Biomechanics I decided to once again take lessons.

When I called the owner and trainer of the stable and inquired about lessons she warned me that her style of teaching was nothing like I had ever done before.  And you know what, she was right.

I have now been training with her for about 2 months, and have learned more than I could ever have imagined.  But to get there I have had to work harder than I have ever worked while riding a horse, and I still have such a long way to go.

I have already used her method on my husband’s 7 year old gelding, and got amazing results.  In a very short period of time I had him moving in a way I had never imagine he could.  He collected and rounded his back in a way he has never done before.

Monet Ward, my instructor, calls what I’m learning Biomechanics and Dressage.  But I truly believe what she is actually teaching me is how to be the lead partner in a very intricate dance with a horse, where every move I make balances or unbalances my partner.

Taking lessons from Monet is not for the faint of heart, but if you are willing to put in the work you will find that what she is teaching is more fulfilling than any other style of riding you have ever done before.

If interested the Exalt and Salute Stable is located at 2630 Wilson Rd, West Jefferson, OH, 43162.
