Monet and everyone out at E&S are very busy with the new place!
But one of our students wrote a lovely piece that we felt needed posting as a guest blogger!

To Dance With a Horse
Think you know how to ride a horse? Well so did I, and in truth I do know how to
ride a horse in the way that most people ride.
I started out with lessons in Western, and then in English, with
jumping. Then when I finally grew up I
was able to get a horse of my own.
Currently my husband and I have 2 horses of which I have done most of
the training of. But when I saw an ad
about a new stable that taught Dressage and something called Biomechanics I
decided to once again take lessons.
When I called the owner and trainer of the stable and
inquired about lessons she warned me that her style of teaching was nothing
like I had ever done before. And you
know what, she was right.
I have now been training with her for about 2 months, and
have learned more than I could ever have imagined. But to get there I have had to work harder
than I have ever worked while riding a horse, and I still have such a long way
to go.
I have already used her method on my husband’s 7 year old
gelding, and got amazing results. In a
very short period of time I had him moving in a way I had never imagine he
could. He collected and rounded his back
in a way he has never done before.
Monet Ward, my instructor, calls what I’m learning
Biomechanics and Dressage. But I truly
believe what she is actually teaching me is how to be the lead partner in a
very intricate dance with a horse, where every move I make balances or
unbalances my partner.
Taking lessons from Monet is not for the faint of heart, but
if you are willing to put in the work you will find that what she is teaching
is more fulfilling than any other style of riding you have ever done before.
